This year's annual South by Southwest festival/headache kicks off today. Though each year increasingly seems to be a pother of rock'n'roll activity that is almost impossible to keep up with, to miss it would be a crime. So, our crack team of drunk experts put together an itinerary for the brave souls who venture down to Austin to partake in the glamorous all-day drinking, BBQ-stuffing, and swamp-ass conditions that pull together the best of each year's actively touring bands all in one ten mile radius.
Apart from the gravitational pull that always piques curiosity about reformed bands from bygone eras, it's obviously a much better week to see the best new bands in their formative,or top-of-form state than to wait in line for hours for the inevitably packed reunion showcases. Roky Erickson, of course, always being the exception to the rule. Either way, make a stop at Beerland your priority and pick up all the fliers for late night house parties, as many of them will not be announced publicly due to police intervention, and SXSW crackdowns.
