Happy Birthday to The Killer! Today, September 29th, is Jerry Lee Lewis' 79th birthday. One of the most infamous and interesting characters in early rock'n roll is still amazingly, albeit barely, still playing out live today. Riding the line between rougher county sounds and rock'n roll, Lewis was able to distinguish himself from the rest of the million dollar quartet, by sticking to the piano and putting on some of the most intense live shows throughout most of his career, and not to mention, by drinking a little more than everyone else.
Below is a video of him performing "I'm On Fire" in his earliest, rawest years in the mid 1950s, another of him ripping it up drunk on an Austrian TV talk show in 1979, and finally, him explaining the infamous incident of him crashing his Lincoln into Graceland with a gun on the dashboard!
So after you dig into these video clips, be sure to stock up on ol' Jerry Lee right HERE.
