Lars Finberg recently left his post as the drummer for the A Frames to focus more on his other project the Intelligence, who recently returned from a European tour. The A-Frames unique sound can only be described as “imminent doom rock.” In their songs they project a panorama of a dark futuristic world of human obsolescence, where our scientific advancements converge before our moral comprehension, a world of shattered test-tubes, a destitute and dead landscape and analog androids. Singer, Erin Sullivan's signature vocal delivery is as mechanical as it is maniacal. In their live shows over the past year they’ve featured more melodious tunes where Sullivan's singing was less angular and acute and more lilting and tuneful. Has the dark cloud of doom waned for their fourth album? I would say probably not. You can find their latest single surprisingly still on the S-S Records site and their last album on Sub Pop's site. There's a couple of videos produced by Monty Buckles and mp3s available for download from Dragnet Record's website. You can catch them live with their new drummer July 19, 2006 at The Funhouse in Seattle. Check out tunes HERE.
