It's been a year since a couple of Minneapolis half-witted punks decided to release the first Chronic Seizure 7", thus creating the aptly named Fashionable Idiots Records. In the short span of a year, the Idiots have released an impressive catalog of nine 7"s (with a ton great stuff on deck) of mainly Midwestern bands but recently expanding to include bands from California, Canada, and Italy. Beyond just releasing records, these two have been incessantly booking and driving bands on tour. That's a lot of work for two dudes who are usually too inebriated to even put a needle down on a record properly, and is definitely worthy of a celebration. So to celebrate, the Idiots are collecting as many bands from their roster as possible for a complete blowout of a show set to happen this Saturday in the rowdiest punk house in Minneapolis, the Alamo. The nihilistic lineup for the show is Out With a Bang, Formaldehyde Junkies, Brain Handle, Brutal Knights, Chronic Seizure, and Retainers. Adding a little more chaos to the show, this will double as the Formaldehyde Junkies last show. For a band whose typical shows end with broken equipment, hospital trips, and blood dripping from somewhere, the collective realization of never seeing this great band again should completely nullify any reasonable or rational thought in the audience. That last statement also seems to hold true for Italy's Out With a Bang. Led by former Grabbies big-mouthed frontman, Alessandro, OWAB's sociopathic and confrontational songs should inspire a mix of animosity and awe, or just plain piss you off. They also have two brand new 7"s out now, one each on both Fashionable Idiots and Criminal IQ. Speaking of new records, party-punks Brutal Knights will have their new LP, Feast of Shame, on Deranged with them. Brain Handle, Retainers, and Chronic Seizure round out the night, demonstrating the great spectrum that is Midwestern punk today.
For those lucky enough to live in Chicago, you can check out Brutal Knights, Retainers, and Brain Handle, with local chi-punks The Krunchies for a great show Friday at the Albion House. In the meantime, check out a video of the Formaldehyde Junkies doing their song Road Hazard at the Alamo right here:
