Like the raw edge of a rash decision, the sound of the CPC Gangbangs leaves a scar so thick, purple and proud it would be a shame to cover. A band with such a musical lineage that includes some of the most productive Canadians around with members of the most prominent rock'n'roll bands of the 90s like The Daylight Lovers, Spaceshits and Les Sexareenos, including Lyle Sheraton, “the Mayor of Canada,” and Roy "Choyce" Vucino, along with Danny "Colonel Lingus" Marks is going to be a sure-fire hit. These Montreal madmen are a bunch of flintstonian savages who tear the meat right from the bone, chew on bark, and bang things against their heads to see if they exist or not. These guys are one of the most undomesticated bands around. Though over the past five years their output of recorded material you could count on three fingers, their first on High School Refuse records, and second on Die Slaughterhaus, they've never disappointed. This most recent single on Solid Sex Lovie Doll rips through two stand-up tunes with their usual irritable fuzzed-up pandemonium of soulful cold-blooded sentiment. The A-side starts off with a resounding chord and then quickly erupts into a perpetuating gritty clamor. The vocals are so hoarse by the song's middle that it meshes with the mechanized backing vocals, and it sounds as if their throats were jammed up with a handful of cancerous rusty lozenges. Keep an eye out for a full-length LP early next year on Swami Records.
