Wednesday night in Chicago, the Beat Kitchen will host Minneapolis' most utterly bombastic and unhinged duo of musical mastery known in the underground's inner circles as the Birthday Suits. Racing back and forth between genres, as well as all over the stage is nothing new for Matthew and Hideo (both formerly of Sweet J.A.P.), but this newly forged combo really widens their scope of sound to encompass different directions once thought inconceiveable by a two man operation. Everytime Birthday Suits play a show, they effortlessly shred modern 'punk' music into visceral shavings that stick under your fingernails with such a magnetic and irresistable passion in their delivery, and you can bet it's topped with nothing less than 120% aggression and style. Their name doesn't allude that these guys play in the nude, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see some overwhelmed first-timers stripping down in front of the stage, either, so look out for one of the most frenetic performances you're likely to catch all year. Hometown heathens the Peelers make a rare appearance as well, pulling out their beer-soaked rock'n roll anthems for the dirty diehards and the scandalous ladies who know when to take it off. Simple, rough and rambunctious rockers who shoot straight from the hip and always smash the last bottles in the room, the Peelers are always looking for a good time, and you'll be right along with 'em. Warming up the stage tonight are the Plastik Explosives, who feature the ground-beef grunt force of the Mashers' Matt and Paul at their core, who at their most restrained, could flip over an earth-mover with their energy alone. Their scathing and slithering vocals and whiskey-washed riffs can only prepare you for the wild ride tonight, so don't think twice about ordering shots before the first band even hits the stage, you're gonna need them!
