The 2014 Australian Invasion officially enters it's second week in the US, and of course, we're very excited to see Deaf Wish once again in Chicago, as their abrasively captivating, scrawling punk noise just bleeds with a unique off-the-cuff intensity that you won't want to miss. Their upcoming fourth LP is slated for a Sub Pop release so you know the secret is out as well, and as of one of the more unpredictable Australian bands that's been going on for 5+ years strong, they're a band that lives hard and parties even harder.

If you were lucky enough to catch Deaf Wish on their 2011 tour, right when Straight Arrows, Kitchen's Floor, The UV Race, Eddy Current Suppression Ring & Total Control were coming through town, it was truly a sight to behold, as each of those bands came with such a distinctly different approach. Yet it all washed together as a symphony of gutteral godspeak, and that was the point when we fully realized how far Australia had come, and how there was nothing stopping this incredible chain reaction. Deaf Wish are a beast unto themselves, rotting under a filthy bed of lies and bad vibes, yet with the strangulating ability to turn it all around and create a tension-filled surge of feedback and beautifully brilliant songwriting as apparent on their second album Mercy, and into their excellent recent material.

Be sure to catch Deaf Wish live this week at The Empty Bottle on Wednesday 9/24 with Running, Spray Paint and Ben Wallers from Country Teasers, and don't miss Deaf Wish in the Noise in My Head: Voices from the Ugly Australian Underground book, out soon on HoZac Books!
