Awash in a sea of glitter and Dreadlocks.
It's been awhile since I last saw Zolar-x but it was just as magical as I remember. No drummer this time around just a strange female being on keyboards, drum machines and some un-earthly backing and lead vocals. Somehow managing to make Zolar X even weirder. At one point Ygarr Ygarrist (The Plutonian Elf) decided to glitterize the audience but seemingly only managed to glitterize me. I think just about all of it ended up on my head and camera. Luckily I do have a "weather proof" camera that is hopefully "glitter proof" as well!
I only first heard Death a couple of years ago when Todd Killings told me about the re-release and I gave it a quick listen. It was great to here that they're touring and after close to forty years have made it to California. They certainly didn't play with the energy of an old band though. Exuberance of a band more than half their age. And a true love for what they were doing. It was quite a show, glad I got to catch Death. But gotta say it's quite strange to hear a crowd (including a revved up like a crazed punk rock teen Jello Biafra) chanting "we want death" over and over. Or "we love death" just slightly surreal but I suppose the whole night was.
