Whoa! So it's like Cheap Time all the time here at Victim of Time! Throw in a little Idle Times and it's time time in friggin' time indeed! Man, I'm dizzy now. Didn't run into Rawce in the office today since I'm down here in my lowly corner surrounded by cameras and empty beer cans, so I didn't realize he was doing a review of the Fantastic Explanations... LP.

I was a bit hung over from seeing them last night at the Hemlock in SF. Got to Hemlock in time to catch the happy hour special of $3 monster Pabst cans, and took full advantage of that deal. DJ was spinning what sounded like one of those "ultimate punk hits" CDs or something like that. It was weird. I was really hoping to hear at least a b-side or something, but it was all hits for like the first hour I was there. Later the stuff got better but geez, anyway, this ain't supposed to be about beer and DJ's.

We hooked up with Jeffrey and the gang before the show to shoot some footage for an upcoming video I'm doing with my cohort in camera-ology Tiger Lily. It was fun running around da 'loin" trying not to trip over discarded needles, empty boxes of Vietnamese noodles, piles of (presumably) doggie poo and brown-bagged empties. Got some good vids and stills and went inside to check out Dead Meat. It was while I was taking my camera back out of my bag that I realized I'd managed to lose the sender for my radio slaves, the one I just got this week and was all excited to use. I'd just used it in the alley shooting a photo of CT but somehow lost it in between. I pretty much spent Dead Meat's whole set running around the bar and retracing my foot steps but found not the little lost piece. Not a huge deal 'cuz it was a pretty cheap Chinese thing I scored off of Ebay, but took awhile to get here from Hong Kong. Again, I digress, but what I was hearing of Dead Meat I liked and wanted to photograph but didn't get a chance to. Hopefully next time.

I've been diggin' the Idle Times LP and was stoked to catch 'em and they certainly delivered. I was a bit bummed I couldn't do my radio slave set up so just flashed them with the one flash and annoyed both them and the crowd I'm sure. Sorry about that, but got a few good shots and really dug 'em. Stoked to hopefully see them in Chicago in May?

Cheap Time certainly killed it too. Didn't shoot too many photos of them since I was doing video as well but managed to get a couple of decent shots. They were on their game even after massive amounts of driving, Ryan's drumming is really something to behold and new bass player Matthew kept the rhythms beautifully while Jeffrey did his best to wow the crowd. Snotty punky glam rocky goodness. They started off the set with the new song we're doing the video for and I couldn't be more stoked. A total Saints/Pistols ripper "Another Time" (again with the "time")……..But I reckon it's my new favorite song of theirs and I'm excited to be doing the video for it. I'll post it once it's edited. In the meantime don't you dare miss either band while they're on tour! and if you still don't have copies of the Idle Times HoZac debut LP, grab it HERE, and get the new Cheap Time album featured HERE.
