Now for some shots of Saturday afternoon's encased meat and booze extravaganza at Thee Parkside. We got there a touch late and missed The S'lobsters and Hondettes. However, the Tee Pees were just getting going and Beer Wolf was howling louder than a werewolf on a full moon.

Teutonics were transported in from Austria (?) to slop their way around the stage in the beer-drenched-garage-trashcan way that they do. I thought Austrians liked beer? These guys mustn't since they don't seem to drink it so much as pour/spray it on the crowd and themselves. Or dump on any unfortunate soul who might get suckered into playing their slightly rigged game.

Speaking of rigged games, did anyone think for a second that the Inhuman Eating Machine wasn't going to win the hot dog eating contest this year? Well, there were about 9 challengers and Beer Wolf came pretty close with like 9 to Andy's 12, which wasn't bad for his first eating contest. Alejandro won the hot dog/beer contest by mixing up his dogs with Pabst, which might just be the mightier feat? But that was sort of a last minute thing put on by the PBR rep I think. Andy took home the giant trophy and big cash purse (???) though and rightfully so. He's put in years of hardcore training and sacrifice and deserves the Crown like no other.

I have no idea what the Tee N Dee Explosion was. I was outside talking to Andy about his victory about the time T&D walked past me in some ultra punk schtick garb. I thought, "OK. this should be interesting," but just waited outside until I heard music or something. A bit later I heard some yelling, went inside, and they had just finished. I guess it was more of a routine or something. Whatever the hell it was I missed it.

Lone Surfer and His Highlander 2s were up next with some garage/surf/comedy thing with Eran coming up between songs and telling Israeli jokes that Mike Lucas had either written or compiled for him. It was all well and good until that hot dog I liberated during the contest decided not to sit very well with me. Rather than risk Thee Parkside's minimal facilities I headed up the street to Whole Foods and unleashed a BRBM to the sounds of "let's do the time warp again" playing over the speakers. By the time I got back I managed to catch just the last tune of the sugary sweet goodness that is the Rantouls and was barely able to get my camera out and catch a couple shots. Then it was off to Bottom of the Hill, which I will share with you tomorrow.
